When is a good time for a short cleanse? An Ayurvedic cleanse can be completed any time you feel the effects of undigested food, emotions, and experiences. You know it might be time when there is:
Low energy or fatigue
Irritability and reactivity
Gas, bloating,digestive issues
Stiffness or aches in the body
Foggy thinking, anxiety, or depression
Feelings of heaviness
Skin problems, such as dry skin, rash, or acne
White coating on tongue, esp. upon waking in the morning
Here's what's possible with this gentle at-home reset...
We all are different and there are MANY ways to cleanse. Personally, I had tried so many cleanses and detoxes to clear allergies, aches, pains, fatigue, and mood fluctuations before diving into my first Ayurvedic cleanse nine years ago. Most of the cleanses before Ayurveda felt really hard, restrictive, and left me feeling a little more depleted. As I would finish a cleanse, it was like I could feel some shifts in my body, but my head would then tell me “you must not have done it right.”
An Ayurvedic cleanse is truly different from what we typically think of when we hear the words cleanse or detox. It doesn’t involve being hungry or depriving the body. You won’t have to only drink liquids (unless you want to) or buy a lot of expensive ingredients, superfoods, or protein shakes.
During my first Ayurvedic cleanse, I simply felt more nourished than I had in a long time.. I realized how much judgement I had been in and how all the diets and cleanses before were more about control and really trying to “fix” something. I let that go and realized this type of cleanse is really about digesting life while also improving digestion, energy, and sleep.
You get to feel lighter, brighter, and clearer after taking a few days to focus on you.
That first cleanse really inspired me. I had completed the cleanse so imperfectly, but I was already feeling some changes in digestion, mood, allergies, and energy after a few days of simplifying food and adding in a few self-care practices, So, I decided to get support and make more changes in food and lifestyle habits. Some changes were fast, others slow and steady, and more are still evolving.
I now approach my health and life with less judgment and more presence and gratitude. And I became aware through this pandemic year that kickstarted with that little cleanse that showed me I could learn to listen to my body and choose what helps me thrive.
.Some changes felt slow and steady, others happened fast. Some are still evolving but my relationship to them is less judgmental and holds so much more presence and love. Within one year after that first cleanse, I was completely off allergy medications, eating foods I hadn’t eaten in years, feeling more centered and lighter in body, mind and spirit. I also discovered that when I was taking care of me and feeling well, it was so much easier to take care of my family, be present and patient with my kids, and show up to teach and lead classes authentically. For the past 9 years I’ve continued to cleanse 2-4 times per year to reset and restore.
I’m so grateful for what Ayurvedic Cleanses have brought to my life, so I offer what I've learned and practiced through my own experience and through guiding other women over the years.
So, are you ready for a gentle reset?
