Welcome, I’m Karla.
I support women navigating the thresholds that undo and reshape us—especially those moving through motherhood, caregiving, loss, and life transitions that ask us to become someone new.
I believe women’s bodies are wise. I believe the nervous system tells the truth. And I believe healing happens when we are met with care, attention, and rhythm.
Much of my work is devoted to the spaces our culture doesn’t know how to hold: the in-between seasons, the quiet grief, the exhaustion that comes from long responsibility, and the deep longing to feel like ourselves again.
Motherhood—at any stage—is one of the most powerful thresholds, often entered without the adequate care and support, ritual, or integration it deserves. As mothers, we often feel like we are navigating an underworld experience while trying to hold our children above. It can feel isolating—but you are not alone. You deserve to be seen, heard, and held.
For over 15 years, I’ve studied and practiced Ayurveda, yoga, and energetic and somatic healing as pathways back to center—ways of restoring rhythm, rebuilding vitality, and learning how to live inside our bodies again.
I work with women who are wise, devoted, and doing amazing things in life, work, and motherhood—and who are often so tired, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I help them cultivate steady rhythm, resilience, and a felt sense of well-being so they can carry out their creative work as women and mothers in the world.
My own life has been shaped by decades of mothering, caregiving, loss, and overlapping transitions. These experiences inform how I listen, how I pace the work, and how deeply I trust the body’s capacity to heal and know what it needs when given the right conditions.
The time-tested wisdom of Ayurveda is foundational to all that I do.
An Ayurvedic lifestyle aligns with nature and the changing seasons, supporting the natural rhythms of our physiology. It honors universal patterns while responding to your unique constitution and current state of balance in body, mind, and spirit.
This work is never about being perfect or doing things “right.” It is a gentle map back to your true nature and aliveness—even in seasons of grief, sadness, or uncertainty. This is the full spectrum of being human.
Alongside my Ayurvedic studies, I have spent over six years immersed in somatic education with Kimberly Ann Johnson, whose work has profoundly shaped my understanding of the female nervous system, repair, embodiment, and belonging. I am also trained in Reiki and energy healing, which inform the subtle, relational, and non-verbal layers of my work.
I offer circles, courses, workshops, and one-on-one support that weave together Ayurvedic wisdom, nervous system care and understanding, somatic and energetic practices—work designed to be lived and experienced, not perfected.
I see health as an evolution, and healing as a non-linear process that unfolds in relationship, time, and rhythm.
It’s an honor to walk alongside women as they root, reorient, and learn to live from center.
I live in Durham, North Carolina and work both online and in person.
Mothers are the soil from which humanity grows.

A place to begin
If you’re longing for deeper, steady support, Root Rise Thrive is my foundational program for women navigating transition and seeking rhythm, resilience, and a felt sense of nourishment.
It weaves Ayurvedic lifestyle practices, nervous system care, and embodied healing into daily life—especially during seasons of change.
My approach…
My work weaves together:
Ayurveda — simple, sustainable practices that restore rhythm and vitality
Somatic wisdom — listening to the body’s signals with compassion
Cycle & season awareness — living in harmony with nature’s rhythms
Compassionate witnessing — being held, seen, and accompanied through change
Community & circle — spaces where women remember their wisdom together
This is grounded, practical healing.
This is feminine wisdom.
This is remembering who you are underneath everything you’ve carried.
Why I do this work
I know what it is to be undone by life’s thresholds—and to find my way back through rhythm, embodiment, and being witnessed with compassion. My studies in yoga and Ayurveda unfolded alongside my own journey of mothering through birth and adoption, during years of learning, unlearning, tending grief and trauma, while also learning how to receive joy, love and renewal– within my lived experience, across changing homes and within my body.
These teachings didn’t just change my health in profound ways; they changed patterns and my capacity to stay present, rooted, and alive in seasons of uncertainty. I offer this work because I’ve lived its medicine. And the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda is designed to guide you back to your own true nature, essence, and soul.
My Vision
My vision is a world where mothers move through life’s transitions with nourishment, clarity, and community—where tending the mother is understood as essential, and where healing ripples outward through families and generations past and future.
Regardless of how you come to motherhood or what stage of mothering or life you are in, your wellness matters. When mothers thrive, our kids and communities can too.
My Desire
My desire is to create spaces where women—especially mothers—feel deeply seen, met, and accompanied, without having to explain the complexity of what they carry. I want each woman to feel her own center again, to trust the quiet wisdom rising within her, and to reconnect with the inherent wholeness that has always been there.
